Nancy Kunhardt Lodge, M.A., Ph.D.
Writing books for children allows me to combine my love of writing with my love of art. I have a Ph.D. in Renaissance Art History and I have taught at Universities in Boston and Washington, D.C.. I grew up with books. My father, mother, and two grandmothers read to me constantly and I continued that tradition with my children. When I had a broken leg, I read the Oz books, The Nancy Drew mysteries, The Little Princess, Treasure Island, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, and The Secret Garden.
Books sustained me as a child and as an adult academic. I write in memory of my maternal Grandmother Dorothy Meserve Kunhardt, author of the ground-breaking books, Pat the Bunny, Mrs. Ticklefeather, Little Peewee, the Little Golden Library, and many more books for young children. My favorite author is E.B. White.
